National Police Memorial

However, due to variety of reasons including procedural delays, regulatory approvals and the directions of the Delhi High Court regarding symmetry and the sanctity of the skyline of Lutyen’s Zone, the construction of the Memorial was delayed.

However, a makeshift Police Memorial was erected at the site during 2012 and since then the annual Commemoration Day Parade is being organised at the Memorial to pay tributes to those Police martyrs who have lost their lives during the preceding year. The Union Home Minister has been leading these tributes every year since 2012 at the site of the National Police Memorial.

In the year 2014-15, the MHA allotted an amount of rupees fifty crores for construction of a befitting National Police Memorial at this site in Chanakyapuri. The work of construction including setting up of Wall of Valour, Central Sculpture and a Police Museum was entrusted to NBCC. This work was completed in October 2018.
